How to read these

The score adds up the bee value of every 30 m square within about 3.7 miles of the point, nearer land counting more, across the whole season. Crops come from USDA's crop maps (five years averaged, because fields rotate), everything else from the LANDFIRE vegetation map, with USDA's honey bee ratings for crops and published references for wild plants. A high score usually means bee crops (canola, alfalfa seed, sunflowers, clover, orchards) or a rich mix of flowering shrubs and weeds; a low score means bare ground, grain, conifer plantations or dense city. How the model works · All sources. Benchmark 2026.5, built 2026-10-19.

These are random 250 m cells, not properties or businesses, and a low score says nothing about anyone's beekeeping: beekeepers choose their yards, random points don't.
